Ubiquinol

CoQ10 is a naturally occurring fat-soluble substance found throughout nature in microorganisms, plants and animals including humans. CoQ10 comes in two forms, ubiquinol and ubiquinone. Ubiquinone, was the one originally made first available to the public. The second type, ubiquinol, was not made available due to lack of a stablized form of it. Recent advances in CoQ10 manufacturing processes has overcome this issue.

Ubiquinol has antioxidant properties and is much more active and effective then CoQ10 ubiquinone. It is an advanced form of CoQ10 and up to eight times more absorbable by the body[1].

Because CoQ10 is a fat-soluble substance it is absorbed like any other fat in our diet. CoQ10 is present in all tissues in our body. The amount of CoQ10 varies based on its location in the body. The highest concentration are found in the heart, muscle, liver, kidney and brain, the areas requiring the most energy [2],[3].

CoQ10 is a crucial component of the electron transport chain in the mitochondria. The mitochondria are the power plants of the cells and CoQ10 plays an important role in energy production. The energy production process is called oxidative phosphorylation. This is where protein, carbohydrate and fatty acids are broken down to produce energy[4]. This is also where adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is produced.

Because of the fundamental roles CoQ10 plays a vital role in our well-being.

CoQ10 is found mainly in organ meats and therefore dietary supplementation is the more favored method to acquire our daily intake needs.

Ubiquinol, the Perfect Anti-Aging and Anti-Fatigue Product

Not only has the new form of CoQ10, ubiquinol, been shown to be up to eight times more absorbable by the body, it has been shown to produce remarkable anti-aging effects. A study conducted in Japan found it was forty percent more effective then traditional CoQ10, ubiquinone, in slowing markers of aging in middle-aged mice[5]. Another study showed it's remarkable anti-fatigue effects[6], making it a perfect material for sports and anti-aging regime.

Four Japanese companies, Kaneka, Mitsubishi, Nisshin and Asahi, produce almost all of the world’s raw co-Q10 and Japanese CoQ10 is considered the best available. Kaneka holds the patent on reduced conenzyme Q10 and the CoQ10 produced by Kaneka is considered one of the best in the world.
